January 2014 Newsletter

Well, it's over. Christmas, that is. And here I am, with a green smoothie at my elbow, trying to get my system back in balance after a dizzy but delightful dosha deranging spree into the world of butter cookies and a whole lot of other stuff I'd rather not mention in a yoga newsletter. 

Don't get me wrong. I don't regret a minute of it. It's good to go a little crazy now and then. But now it's definitely time to rein it in and get back to lots of veggies and water and a good healthy sweat every day.

To that end, this January I am offering a 6-week YOGA CLEANSE for any of you who, like me, feel ready to detox and fly right.

The YOGA CLEANSE is a 6-week Yoga Intensive focused on postures, breathing techniques and kriyas (purification exercises) aimed at detoxifying and energizing the body/mind.

These ancient yogic techniques will clear an exit path for toxins and allow for the efficient absorption of vitamins, minerals and nutrients (from all that kale you will be eating.)

If you plan on making more healthy dietary choices this year, this YOGA CLEANSE will support and accelerate your progress.

Each week I will also give you an easy and fun "homework assignment" designed to amp your vibe and make you glow!

This class is designed for people with some yoga experience. If you are wondering if this is for you, and want to discuss it, please email or call me.
Please note: This class is 90 minutes rather than the usual 60.

The other new class on the January schedule is GENTLE YOGA on Thursdays.
This is a slow-paced class designed for the beginner or the experienced yoga student who wants to de-stress and stretch. The emphasis will be on seated, on the back, and on the belly poses, breathing techniques and basic meditation instruction.
This class is suitable for all levels, including beginners.

Everything else is the same: Power Hour on Mondays, All-Levels on Wednesdays, and Happy Hour on Fridays. A printable PDF schedule will be available on the website by the end of this week

On December 31st, I will be offering the annual Yoga Nidra class. This class is free, and please bring friends if you like. Yoga Nidra literally means "yogic sleep." It is a guided savasana. (there will be no postures) After the half hour Yoga Nidra, there will be an optional writing exercise.
It is a lovely way to say goodbye to the old year, and welcome the new one.
TIME: 4 - 5 PM

I am now offering Holistic Health Coaching at a low introductory rate. I have been studying at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition since September and have recently been given the "green light" to take clients. I will not be officially certified until late August however, so I cannot charge what I eventually will be able to, so now is  your chance to get some inexpensive Health Coaching!
What does a Health Coach do?
Helps you define your health goals
Works with you and supports you step-by-step in achieving those goals
Keeps you accountable
Provides you with supportive materials like books, dvds and other gifts to help you
Is there for daily email support

And finally.
Thank you for supporting me and the studio this year. Can you believe that on March 1st of 2014 I will have been here 10 years? 
This venture has been, and continues to be an incredible experience for me, filled with laughter, deep silence, and the magical openings of practice. 
Shiva Rae once said that yoga is the river and the yoga teacher is the river guide. I strive in my life and in my continuing studies to be the best guide I can possibly be for the many students I have led down this incredible river of yoga. 

I value and appreciate every one who has ever trusted my guidance on this journey.
