Hi all!
Happy September! I don't know about you, but transitions are always hard for me. I think the hardest one is this one, from summer to fall. The last time I wrote it was high summer and I was sitting here (so happy!) in shorts and a t-shirt. Today it is decidedly cooler and I am in jeans and a hoodie, not feeling so joyous. 

As the seasons change I turn to the practices of Ayurveda to help me "transition" more easily. I change my yoga posture sequences and also my diet, and it really does help.  On Tuesdays in September I want to share this Ayurvedic approach to yoga with you in a new offering called The Ayurvedic Approach to Yoga Practice. It is a 4 week session appropriate for all levels. See below for all the details.

On Thursdays in September I will be offering a practice that combines Yin and Yang styles of yoga. Yin yoga involves long holding times in floor postures to relax the connective tissue around the joints for amazing gains in flexibility. Yang yoga focuses on muscles and involves standing postures and inversions to build strength and endurance (as well as flexibility). The combination of the two provides a perfectly balanced yoga experience.

** Attention! ** Some people have requested that I run a class during the day, and I am willing to do that IF I can get 10 people (minimum) to commit. It would be an All-Levels  class from 11 AM to noon on Wednesdays in September. If you are interested, please contact me right away. If I can get 10 people, this class will happen.

The Ayurvedic Approach to Yoga Practice
In Ayurveda there are 3 basic body types: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Did you know that depending on your type, some yoga postures are better for you than others? In this 5-Week Session you will:
Discover your particular Ayurvedic type (dosha)
Learn the postures most beneficial for your dosha
Discover how to align your lifestyle and diet with with your type

Yin and Yang Yoga
Both Yin and Yang forms of yoga are necessary to achieve a balanced mind and body. In this 4 week session we will alternate between the static, long holds of yin postures and the dynamic, strength-building postures of yang postures to create a perfectly balanced practice.

Power Yoga is still a Monday night staple. This is an on-going session, and you need to let me know from month to month if you are IN because this class often fills. If you would like to practice Power on Mondays in September, CLICK HERE

On Wednesday nights it's All-Levels drop-in with Shelly.
On Fridays, Happy Hour Yoga at 4:30.
