The April Yoga Challenge is Changing!

The April Yoga Challenge is Changing!

This year, as the month of April drew closer I found myself dreading the Yoga Challenge. It has been a long and challenging winter for me, (and for everyone, I think!), and I wasn't looking forward to the physical demands of 90 classes in a month.
But I still wanted to do something interesting in April, so I thought: Why not make it a true challenge? Why not open it to just an elite group of people who will be IN IT TO WIN IT; who will commit to 30 consecutive days. Without a miss.

So that's what it's going to be this year. The ELITE YOGA CHALLENGE. The deadline for applying is March 15th. The details are in the FAQ which follows. I am only taking 20 people for this, but I am running a full schedule of yoga classes in April for everyone else who is not interested or cannot play.
I am really happy about this! I hope it will capture your imagination as it has captured mine!
More about the April line-up of classes in another email.

FAQ For the
ELITE YOGA CHALLENGE
2014

Q: WHAT IS THE ELITE YOGA CHALLENGE?
A: The "EYC" is a new format replacing the old "April Yoga Challenge." It is an elite challenge designed specifically for those hardcore people who don't just want to DO MORE YOGA, but want to commit to, and see if they can really rock 30 CONSECUTIVE days of yoga in the month of April.

Q: WHY ARE YOU MESSING WITH THE FORMAT? I LIKED THE STONES AND THE CROWDS.
A: Frankly, this year, with still rehabbing my broken wrist and all, I was dreading the Challenge. Even though it looks fun, it is physically exhausting to teach 90 classes in a month. In addition, I am building my Holistic Health Coaching business which is really taking off, so time was a factor, too.

Q: BUT I THOUGHT YOU REALLY GOT OFF ON SELF-TORTURE?
A: Yeah, me too. I think it wasn't so much the "self-torture" as it was the "dread" piece that caused me to re-think it. I don't do "dread."

Q: WHAT ABOUT EASTER, FOR EXAMPLE? WHAT IF IF I HAVE TO MISS EASTER, CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE?
A: No. In the past, you could "make up" a missed day by doing 2 practices on another day. This is no longer an option. You must show up every day. If you know that you will miss Easter, for instance, you can't play.

Q: SO HOW DO I JOIN? WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
A: All you have to do is Email me and tell me you want to be in. You have automatic eligibility if you have ever "won" a Yoga Challenge in the past. There is only room for 20 people in this new format. You must let me know by March 15th.

Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF MORE THAN 20 PEOPLE APPLY?
A: If more than 20 people apply, there will be a lottery. All names (minus pre-qualified people) will go into a drawing to be held at the Happy Hour Yoga class on March 21st.

Q: WHAT IF I AM A RAW BEGINNER? CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE?
A: Yes! The only rule is that you show up for 30 Consecutive Days.

Q: WHAT ARE THE CLASS TIMES?
A: The EYC will be running alongside a full schedule of regular Yoga classes in April, but there will be designated classes open only to EYC participants. Those class times are: 7 PM Mon-Thurs, 6 PM Friday, 10 AM Saturday, and 11 AM Sunday.

Q: CAN I SUBSTITUTE A REGULAR YOGA CLASS FOR A EYC CLASS?
A: Yes! The only requirement for EYC is that you come to class every single day.

Q: WHAT IF I AM NOT AN EYC PARTICIPANT, CAN I COME TO THE 7 PMCLASS OR THE WEEKEND ONES?
A: No. Those classes are only for EYC participants.

Q: WHAT IS THE FEE FOR EYC?
     A: $30.

Q: DOES THIS $30 GET ME INTO THE REGULAR APRIL YOGA CLASSES AS WELL?
A: Yes. If you are this hardcore, you deserve a break.

Q: WHAT IF, DESPITE ALL GOOD INTENTIONS, I GET SICK OR OTHERWISE HAVE TO MISS A CLASS?
A: If you miss a class you are OUT of the EYC. "The tribe has spoken."

Q: ISN'T THIS KIND OF HARSH?
     A: My game, my rules.

Q: DOES THIS MEAN THERE COULD BE A "SOLE SURVIVOR?"
     A: It certainly does.

Q: IF I BONK ON THE EYC, CAN I STILL COME TO THE REGULAR CLASSES?
A: You sure can! But you will have to take them off your flex from then on. Your free ride is over.

Q: THAT'S NICE OF YOU.
     A: The way I roll.

Q: WHAT ABOUT THE PARTY AT THE END?? I LIKE THE PARTY.
A: Oh, don't you worry! There will be a party at the end! But it won't be a Yoga Challenge party, it will be to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of MSY!! Everyone is invited!! The EYC-ers will have a separate celebration just for them, with awards, and swag and such.

Q: ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS?
A: HELL YEAH! I am amped about it! I can't wait to see who I get to play with for a month!

Love and Namaste,
Kath
